A TINKERER FROM KYSUCE
WIRE CRAFT was developed by itinerant tinkers who went from door to door repairing kitchenware, making and selling a variety of items from wire and, later on, also sheet metal. This craft emerged as a consequence of economic poverty of the Kysuce region accompanied by a lack of job opportunities. Simultaneously, wire craft reffered to craftsmanship and the artistic wealth of the Kysuce people.
Since 2019, wire craft and art has been included on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity , becoming Slovakia’s seventh element on the list.
